2nd Advocacy meeting in Greece

The 2nd advocacy meeting has been implemented on 12/12/2020 in a hybrid way due to the pandemic. Part of journalists, research team, and all the young Roma met in the space of University of Thessaly (Greece) while the rest participants connected via WebEx platform. In this meeting participated apart of the research team of UTH, the representative of KEKPA-DIEK, 5 people of local and national media, 6 young Roma (one of them a girl).

A short video that was prepared by young Roma, under our support, was introduced to the participants to trigger the discussion.

In this video young Roma depicted their reaction on the way MEDIA present several aspects of their life, as:

•          issues of professional life of Roma and the difficulties they experience,

•          issues of social welfare benefits,

•          gender issues of the girl regarding the early weddings,

•          3 young Roma success stories

MEDIA people, being affected by the video, asked the young Roma to express their expectations about the way they like to be presented.

The meeting finished with a brainstorming for developing a manifesto for MEDIA people aiming for reconsideration of their practices regarding the way present and represent Roma.
