Roma Prisoners & Prospective Teachers

The Common spaces with Roma prisoners and prospective teachers in Italy

In Italy the workshops with young Roma prisoners and prospective teachers are taking place in the Prison District of Sollicciano, the main detention center in Florence and the Tuscany region.

They were preceded, in April 2019, by a contact meeting for a first mutual knowledge and understanding, and present the objectives of the project, namely of the workshops.

This contact meeting was followed, in May, by the first performance, which developed spontaneously immediately after watching a short film by a young Roma woman.

The first two of the twelve workshops were held in October 2019. They were developed in intercultural spirit and by the use of innovative technics.

Attendance sheets were signed after each workshop and a report of the activity was elaborated.

The next ten workshops are planned to be held by the end of March 2020, twice a month.
